On behalf of the National Organising Committee (Uganda) and the International Organising Committee/Scientific Programme Committee, we take this opportunity to invite you to the Fifth International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS-V) to take place from 13th 15th October 2010 in Kampala, Uganda. This venue was selected during the ICAS-IV conference in Beijing, China.
The ICAS-V conference is open to all producers, suppliers, trainers and users of Agricultural Statistics, such as economists, statisticians, researchers, analysts and decision-makers from government entities, the academia, , development partners and international organisations. It is as well open to the private sector, including the business community. More details and updates regarding the conference can be found at the Conference website www.icas-v.org . A copy of the ICAS-V detailed programme and brochure can also be downloaded from the website. We request for your support and assistance in distributing the brochure and in publicising the information therein as widely as possible.
The Conference will focus on the UN report titled Global Strategy for Improving Agriculture Statistics under the theme Integrating Agricultural Statistics into National Statistical Systems. Accommodation
The ICAS-V Secretariat encourages all delegates to stay at the main conference venue ie Speke Resort, Munyonyo. Accommodation has however been booked at a few other selected venues within easy reach of Speke Resort (listed below). The accommodation rates shown in the list can only be obtained by booking through the ICAS-V Secretariat or by dealing directly with the selected hotel. In addition, early booking is required if any guest intends to use the rooms earlier or later than the conference dates. The rates include Bed and Breakfast.
Deposit: Bookings require a deposit of one night's tariff and a credit card guarantee. The deposit is non-refundable. One night's room rate will be deducted from the supplied credit card account if the reservation is cancelled within 30 days of the date booked or, if the guest does not show up on the expected date of arrival. Delegates are to settle their accounts, including incidentals, upon checking out. The hotel will provide an accommodation tax invoice/receipt to the guest upon settling the account.
Amendments: Amendments to accommodation arrangements will only be accepted in writing and the ICAS-V Secretariat must be advised of the changes in advance.
Check-in and Check-out: standard check-in time of 2.00pm and check-out time is 11.00am. This applies to all hotels on the ICAS-V accommodation list. Requests for late check-out must be made with the relevant hotel on arrival. Please note that early check-in may require the prior booking of an additional room night in order to guarantee immediate access to booked room.
Booking deadline: Hotels impose strict release dates for block accommodation bookings. Unbooked rooms will be released 30 days prior to the conference and accommodation bookings received after Friday 5 November 2010 will be subject to availability of any free room.
